In the last few years in India, especially the tier 2 & tier 3 cities, have witnessed massive growth in IT Infrastructure. This paradigm shift is quite evident in the current economic scenario where an extensive number of startups are emerging with the motive of solving more localised problems with the help of`on-demand applications, consumer tech solutions, online delivery, ride sharing and more, thereby driving the growth of IT in these cities.
With online retailing, e-commerce, cloud computing, and above all easily accessible and affordable internet services, the digitalisation and IT development has rapidly brought a makeover in these cities. A major example could be the changing work environments. As per a survey done by Dell Technologies, 61 percent of people prefer hybrid work culture. This simply reflects how the IT infrastructure requirements for the users have increased at a personal level.
Moreover, this shift has been quite evident in one of the well-developed tier II cities of India the “City of Nawabs”- Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow is one of the largest cities in North India, and a fast-growing tech hub with numerous companies that have chosen to start their digital business in the city. Lucknow is developing fast, and it has become the need of the hour for businesses to invest in better computing systems, internet connectivity, and other relevant devices, including data storage solutions.
Highlighting this transition in cities like Lucknow, CRN India has created a platform ‘Building Bharat’ in partnership with Dell Technologies and TechData. The platform aims to host a series of conferences to address the customers about IT developments in their city and how new-gen data storage and management solutions are providing an impetus to the otherwise slow-paced economy of these tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The second chapter of the Building Bharat series was organised in Lucknow on August 17, 2022.
The first session was an interesting presentation, ‘Embrace the future of work’, by Abhay Singh, Partner Account Manager - IT, Dell Technologies.
Addressing the gathering, Singh highlighted, “Modernising IT, modernising workspace, and cybersecurity are the three must-haves to embrace the future of work.” Elaborating on cybersecurity, he further presented numbers, stating that 78 percent of cyber-attacks have been seen on people working from home. Lack of awareness among the people is one of the prominent reasons for the compromised security measures to safeguard data. Also, people are not well-aware of advanced security solutions.
Singh informed about the products that Dell offers to cater to the needs of the present-day employees. He said that Dell has come up with its Optiplex portfolio for desktops for employees working from home, or from office, or in a hybrid mode. Dell also offers Latitude series and XPS portfolio for laptop users working from office or home or in hybrid mode. Dell can provide comprehensive zero-touch deployment, comprehensive security, unified engagement and predictive support.
Md Danish Khan, Lead Pre-Sales Channel North India, Dell Technologies gave an insightful perspective on how organisations can modernise their IT infrastructure to cater to their respective needs. He said, “Lowering operational costs, leveraging cloud, innovation in business, and unlocking new value are factors that drive value to the organisation.” IT is an essential part of almost every organisation across the globe and growth without technology is not possible today or in the future, he added.
Khan mentioned that Dell has recently launched its 15th generation server, Dell EMC PowerEdge, which is the industry's most advanced server.
As Dell is known for its service delivery and customer-centric initiatives, he highlighted, “Every customer has multiple applications running in its data centre. Therefore, Dell offers the industry's largest portfolio of solutions that caters to all types of customer demands. For most products that Dell offers, customers can take it on a pay per use model as a service.”
Further, elaborating on Dell's portfolio, he shared, “Dell's Adaptive Compute is engineered to optimise the latest technology advances for predictable profitable outcomes. Also, Dell's PowerStore Experience is the industry's storage portfolio and offers storage solutions that effectively caters to the changing demands of the industry.” Dell's Unity is the industry's most preferred storage solution, while the Powermax storage is one of the most powerful solutions in the industry. “We have a complete workload analysis tool, Liveoptics. This helps our partners in identifying customers' needs. Liveoptics also provides machine learning based data on market trends. Dell offers Cloud IQ, a solution to track storage health, predict utilisation, requirements, detect anomalies, and more. This solution is a fitness tracker for the user's device,” he mentioned.
The delegates appreciated the presentation by Dell representatives and were vocal about the company’s seamless service delivery and customer-centric approach. Sangram Singh, Director Evergreen Advertising , expressed how Dell has become the most important brand for the customers in the city. He said, “We are thankful to CRN India for the conference and we appreciate the range of products and services that have been brought to the city like Lucknow, which has made the customer’s life easy.” Addressing how his organisation is leveraging technology, he added, “Dell is helping our organisation in numerous ways like the synchronization of its networking and how we can efficiently use the manpower.”
Faiz Mohammad, Founder, Mitti Se, spoke on his experience with emerging technologies and how these are reshaping the modern workplace, “Technology plays a very important role in B2C where data is the key, especially cloud technology, CRMs and many other technologies.”
Speaking about Dell Technologies, Mohammad pointed out, “Technology is integral to business and Dell has brought the customer-centric initiatives to the market which will help in growing our business.

The company also offers Cloud IQ, a one-of-a-kind solution to track and monitor an organisation’s health, predict utilisation, requirements, detect anomalies, and more. Dell’s wide portfolio is one of its biggest USPs.
