Transformation Tour - Dehradun Chapter

The ongoing digital revolution has transformed the way most businesses operate in India. Especially, the tier 2 and 3 cities in the country have witnessed the reengineering of processes as business leaders and entrepreneurs adopted newer technologies to enhance their productivity, efficiency, and service delivery to make their businesses future-ready. With this, the tier 2 & 3 cities recorded a tremendous economic growth of over 40 percent in the recent past and Dehradun, the capital city and the industrial hub of Uttarakhand is no different.

In the past 20 years, Dehradun has emerged as the leading business and service centre and is the biggest urban agglomeration within the entire Garhwal region. The city is home to many prominent organisations and educational institutions from Survey of India, Indian Institute of Petroleum, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation to Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Wildlife Institute of India, Indian Military Academy, The Doon School and more. This has resulted in an active economical, commercial and technological boom in the city. Also, the changing market demands pushed the growth of IT channel business in the city.

To discuss the rising demand for cutting-edge technologies in Dehradun and the growth trajectory for MSMEs, CRN India, in association with Dell Technologies and Redington, organised the Transformation Tour in Dehradun on November 9, 2022.

The first speaker Md. Danish Khan, Lead Pre Sales Channel North India, Dell Technologies presented on the theme ‘Modernize Your IT Infrastructure’. He showed some numbers to mark the changing industrial trends and said, “Ninety-two percent of companies see digital business initiatives as critical to success. While 45 percent of companies feel that if they don't transform their operations and go digital they will get obsolete in the coming five years.” Today, IT is no more a business enabler but it is the business itself and data centre is the new factory, Khan emphasised.

Taking the audience through the journey of transformation he mentioned that “Modernize, Automate, and Transform” are the three steps to an enterprise's digital transformation journey. “Enterprises are adopting technology solutions to automate monotonous processes to improve efficiency and cut down human error. Meanwhile, the workforce is being used in more strategic and creative areas”, he added.

While presenting Dell’s product lineup, Khan highlighted that “Dell is the only large IT service provider that offers Live Optics, a tool that identifies and collects data on workloads. With this tool a customer can assess even the non-Dell IT infrastructure as well. Dell offers Cloud IQ that helps you track storage health, predict utilisation requirements, and detect anomalies. It also raises alerts if an unusual activity occurs on Dell's hardware that is deployed by the customer.”

Further, he said, “IT has been playing a key role in modernising businesses. Every organisation needs to be digital, powered by data running in a multi-cloud world.”

APEX is Dell's new buying experience where the customer has to pay as per its usage. Moreover, Dell offers a wide range of storage solutions ranging from the entry-level PowerVault to mid-range solution PowerStore and high-end solution PowerMax. Dell's PowerStore architecture is one of the most preferred storage solutions in the industry. It is data-centric, intelligent, and adaptable, he explained.

The conference catered to over 45 attendees and ended on a high note. The attendees appreciated Dell’s product lineup and shared with the CRN India team their views on how Dell has been contributing to the digital transformation of MSMEs in Dehradun and its impact on the city’s economic trends. Sambhav Pant, Officer Marketing, Bank of India said, “Dell’s line up of products was pretty impressive. It was a knowledgeable session that showed where the IT industry is heading and how technologies are evolving by the day. Also, the presenter showed a new paradigm to look at technology as not just a part of the business but a key enabler and at times the business itself. I’ve been using a Dell laptop for years and I’ve even recommended many of my friends to go for a Dell laptop. As per my experience with Dell, their post-sales service and assistance are commendable. After looking at Dell’s products, I certainly feel that these have the capability to be a game-changer. I think that is how Dell is a market leader.

While Ashish Negi, System Adminstrator, Doon Girls School said, “Dell’s presentation was insightful. It gave a new perspective on the products that enterprises are presently using and what is on offer by Dell, their capacities, capabilities, and how these products can transform businesses and make them future-ready. I am interested in Dell’s storage solutions. I think Dell has seen a curve of growth. There was a time when Dell was the preferred choice by most businesses and then other OEM companies took over the crown. However, in recent years, Dell has risen again as the market leader being the preferred choice for many small and big businesses. We have always appreciated the lineup of storage and servers from Dell. Moreover, customer support and post-sales service had always been one of the key USPs of Dell, in my opinion.”

The conference ‘Transformation Tour’ held at Dehradun ended on a high note. The delegates expressed appreciation for Dell products and appreciated how the company has come up with technology solutions that cater to every sect of customers. Attendees pointed out that Dell’s wide portfolio and post-sales service are the key USPs behind making it a market leader.
