Novotel, Guwahati
Guwahati is the urban hub of North East India. The city, also known as the gateway to the North East, has been a significant commercial hub and rated as being among the swiftly developing cities in the country. The largest tech park of the North East India has been set up in Bongara recently, which is about 30 kilometers from Guwahati. It will be an innovation center for technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, solar PV, photonics, quantum dot nanocrystals, and Internet of Things.
Information technology being an integral part of every sector, with the rise in investments in any sector in tier 2 or tier 3 cities, investments in IT too grow simultaneously. It has also been witnessed that digitalisation and IT development have rapidly brought a makeover in these cities. A major example could be the changing work environments. As per a survey done by Dell Technologies, 61 percent of people prefer hybrid work culture. This simply reflects how the IT infrastructure requirements for the users have increased at a personal level. Moreover, this shift has been quite evident in one of the well-developed tier 2 cities of India, like Guwahati. There is a significant demand for IT Infrastructure growth in the city and across all the north eastern states.
Highlighting this transition and emerging possibilities and growth of these non-metro cities, CRN India and Express Computer, the two leading IT publications from The Indian Express Group, in association with Dell Technologies and TechData, have created a platform called 'Transformation Tour'. The platform aims to host a series of conferences to address the customers about IT developments in their city and how new-gen data storage and management solutions are providing an impetus to the otherwise slow-paced economy of these tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The 'Transformation Tour' was organised in Guwahati on November 4, 2022.
Accelerating IT transformation
The session started with an interesting presentation, ‘Accelerating IT Transformation’, by Repaka Ramesh, Advisory Systems Engineer, Dell Technologies.
Addressing the gathering, Ramesh stated, “Today, digital transformation is shaping each and every business and technology is impacting the future of businesses. We, at Dell, are addressing all the technical requirements of entry, mid and large level organisations.”
”Businesses today are transforming themselves into digital powerhouses and IT must focus on driving the value to the company rather than just being an enabler, and to meet these changing requirements. Enterprises should leverage advanced and innovative technology solutions and the CIO or CTO need to look at regular updation of technologies, while monitoring and managing the digital infrastructure to make data-driven and informed decisions,” he added.
The delegates appreciated the presentation by Dell representatives and were vocal about the company’s seamless service delivery and customer-centric approach. Sandeep Biswas, Director Trans Northeast Infrastructure and Solutions (TNEIS), mentioned that Guwahati being the gateway to the North East India, the IT market here is catering to the entire region. “Dell has the products and solutions for the entire North East and if we talk about Guwahati also 60 to 70 percent people are using Dell products. We, at TNEIS, are also using Dell products and looking forward to more solutions from the company. We are Glad that Dell is coming up with new technologies for its customers in tier 2 cities,” opined Biswas.
Sanjeev Sharma, Founder, WebX Technology stated, “Guwahati IT market is growing day by day in terms of technology and IT infrastructure. We really look forward to grabbing these technologies and also leveraging its benefits. We are already a customer of Dell and look forward to continuing this relationship in the future.”
According to Naren Maheshwari, CEO, Shree Infosolutions the hardware penetration in Guwahati has increased after Covid and the IT infrastructure demand has become the need of an hour. “Here, in Guwahati, the biggest market is education and people are using IT as an enabler in education. We feel the best part with Dell is, it has end-to-end solutions and at the same time being a very responsible company, is innovation focused,. We really appreciate the efforts Dell has made to bring the technology and innovation to our city Guwahati,” pointed out Mahewari.
Similar views were shared by Vinod Das, Co-Founder, Salezlift, who mentioned that Dell is providing end-to-end solutions for all businesses in Guwahati, from startups to large enterprises. “With Dell, emerging companies can look forward to state-of-the-art storage solutions and connecting tools solutions,” he said.
The Transformation Tour- Guwahati concluded on a high note. The delegates expressed appreciation for Dell’s product lines and unanimously agreed that the company has come up with a technology solution for every type of customer. The insightful keynotes and live tech demos, will help the customers to make informed, time-bound decisions. This event is an opportunity for the customers to explore new growth areas and align with Dell, which has products and solutions that are in great demand and can assist these organisations to frame their growth strategies.
